OOTD: A FROSTY SUNRISE

It's no secret that winter pastels are my current obsession. I made the most of the ASOS sale, and picked up this absolutely stunning mint green cable knit turtle neck. It's 100% cotton, which I couldn't say no to, most people who know me well know that I detest cheap, uncomfortable fabrics that make you sweat and itch, so I love nothing more than a soft but stylish sweater that really feels like it was worth the £20 (I would have gladly paid more). Like most bloggers/fashion appreciators I can't get enough of the sassy yet somewhat very 90's vibe the high neck knit gives off- It's something that Monica, Phoebe or Rachel could have easily worn in the earlier days of Friends, and to be honest it reminds me of my childhood and everything warm and cosy I associate with my younger years.

The oversized scarf that can double up as a cape, and just about anything else is probably one of my pieces of the season. It is the perfect ode to my winter pastel  obsession and I found myself throwing it over just about everything because it's bloody freezing here. I think I'm enjoying it so much as it's an unusual piece for winter- colour wise- where most scarves this season are dark reds, greens and blues, this lifts the tone and monotony of a winter morning because the colours are so fresh and spring-like. I picked this baby up in the New Look Sale for £6- surely that's the bargain of the season too?

I think it has become blatantly clear that I'm a gold person, silver just doesn't cut it for me- It does nothing for my complexion etc. plus I just feel so darn sassy and queen-like in gold and these shades are no exception. These were another bargainous piece  from the ASOS sale by a brand called Jeepers Peepers who stock a wide selection of awesome sunglasses on the site. These just had my name written all over them, they simply add instant Italian elegance to pretty much any outfit, even a grey sweater and ripped black jeans.

I kept the rest of the ensemble fairly light in colour with some ripped blue mom jeans for textural interest and a real cream sheepskin coat for that much needed element of luxe. To contrast this some good old (but new) black platform heels and a very vintage inspired faux snakeskin satchel style bag- I'm going texture crazy people!

Let me know what you're loving deep in the midst of this winter season...

Much Love,
Ev

MINI LUSH HAUL

As far as I know the majority of the products featured on this post are exclusively seasonal, meaning these are  from the autumn/winter collection at Lush, so it's possible that they are no longer in stock, but I figured it would be such a waste not to blog them, they're just too pretty! Perhaps you could use it as a reference for next years Christmas gifts, ideas for treating yourself, or even if you're just curious about Lush products and fancy having a little read...It's hard to believe but in 19 years I have never tried a Lush product, and I hear so many great reviews, I couldn't help but be so excited when I received these little treats for Christmas. Without further a-due, this was my reaction to some of the products...

Star Light Star Bright is a very unusual scent, and as it's Christmas themed I was expecting warm, cinnamon or maple tones, instead I was so pleasantly surprised. The initial aroma is overwhelmingly fresh, and as the bomb begins to melt these tantalising citrus wafts fill the room, a scent that I can best describe as lemon sherbet or sour candy. I'm pretty fascinated with the glittery exterior and how it seems to stick to everything, it's just very delicate- and almost snow-like. As ridiculous as it sounds, after my bath, I felt so refreshed and invigorated which I think is down to the citrus kick, but it's true I felt optimistic and excited for the spring season!

Similarly with the Luxury Pud, I was pleasantly surprised. It was refreshing, but less pungent as Star Light. The extracts of lavender oils definitely came through and it gave off much more of a soothing scent in comparison. The thing that got me really excited was the fact that it turned my water pink and glittery. A combination that I love in life is pink and glitter. I felt like a magical unicorn bathing in magical springs beneath a rainbow in a far off land...

I had heard amazing things about the Snow Fairy scent, like really really great reviews, so I was super excited when I opened this and saw the brilliant pink and holographic gift packaging (which let's put it out there- we all love a beautifully wrapped gift- is awesome). I love the way the products are packed, with a leaflet inside etc. I never knew such a thing existed as this bath putty, and to be honest it baffles me because their products are organic as well as vegan, so how the hell can such an awesome creation be so natural?! Anyway, I used the putty last night, which is incredible because it can be used for hair or body- so perhaps ideal for traveling- and like the shower gel it is sickeningly sweet but in a good way. *Note: if you don't like sweet, indulgent scents, this product is not for you.* Both products left my skin feeling squeaky clean and nourished. I absolutely adore the putty especially, and it could make such a cool gift for kids and little ones at bath time but like I said could be very practical for packing in hand luggage for one's travels.

Let me know what you all think of this very different style of post and/or if you've taken any inspiration or ideas....

JANUARY LOVE LIST

So I finally have two seconds to sit down and compile a Love list for January. I find that sometimes the endless sales at this time of year can be somewhat overwhelming, and to be perfectly honest, I'd much rather be browsing through new lines, new season and new stock. Don't get me wrong, I love myself a good bargain, and I have been sale shopping (only online) because I just can't stand the messiness, the crowds and blah blah blah...

Recently I looked back to the very start of my blog- oh my, it has actually been over a year!- and I've noticed that my style has evolved so much, my taste has changed and even matured to some level. I don't know if I've completely discovered my personal style yet but I'm much more into classic pieces. This January love list encapsulates some of my current obsessions; muted tones, roll neck jumpers (I can't get enough), subtle checks, a few bits of luxury and of course the occasional eccentric piece. I intend to reflect this change in my style through my posts and the way I present myself, let's see how that goes!

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you all a 2015 full of love, laughter and happiness but also hard work and achievement (in my case), I'm feeling very optimistic about this year!

Love, Ev
