SASSY SUMMER SANDALS

I thought it would be a good idea to create a post celebrating the beautiful summer shoes that one can find online and on the high street at the moment. I feel like women often wrongly presume that it is better to invest in winter boots and accessories, especially here in England as our Summer months are limited in comparison to our plenteous months of winter weather. Whilst this is partly true and often our footwear choices in summer can be neglected and ignored, I have found a handful of beautiful sandals worth investing in for the spring and summer months that I know you will thank me for. I guess the key to summer sandals and shoes is versatility, you want a pair that you can wear with shorts and jeans but also dresses and skirts which is why I've selected a very muted nude/neutral colour palette that will undoubtably go with everything.

As always there are trends inspired from the catwalks that run through our high street lines of footwear and this season it's all about the simplistic and minimalistic Scandinavian inspired 'pool slider'. The idea behind the pool slider is that of course it can be worn on holiday by the pool but thrown together with a pair of boyfriend jeans and a relaxed oversized white shirt you have the perfectly effortless 'summer in the city' vibe nailed. On this same wavelength of the Scandinavian inspired look, the Mule comes in to play. It is again very reminiscent of the minimalist look with the sharp lines and cuts and can be styled very similarly to the pool slider but has the added bonus of looking perfectly preppy with a ditsy summer dress or playsuit

A trend that is certainly making itself prominent this season is the lace up shoe, weather it be a lace up heeled sandal suitable more so for going out, or the classic gladiator inspired flat lace up sandal that can be worn with endless casual outfits. On the more high-end spectrum it is always an idea to invest in a pair of statement chunky heeled sandals especially this season with the 70's trend being celebrated in all its glory. They can be beautiful with a pair of denim cut off's and a long flowing kimono but also with a an elegant black jumpsuit for the evening.

The pointed flat slingback is probably the most practical of all the shoes. The pointed toe is something that we have seen emerging throughout autumn/winter but is being glorified in a big way this spring season. I adore pointed flats because they are truly sophisticated and extremely sassy- they can immediately give an outfit that chic edge, especially in these neutral tones.

I'd advise not being hesitant in trying out a new style of shoe like the mule for example as all the shoes listed above aim to encapsulate that classic spring/summer zest that we should all be injecting into our wardrobe. As always let me know what you think!

OOTD: EARLY SUMMER ZEPHYR

I'm incredibly aware of the fact that my last OOTD was the Khaki celebration post back in February, I'm literally a terrible blogger but as I explained in my previous post, it's been non-stop and I've probably missed out on a lot of sassy spring 'should-have-been' outfits but I'm hoping to make up for it. The weather in Britain, or at least down here in Brighton has been so disappointing given that it's almost June and we've had nothing but cloud and rain apart from a few days. Today was one of those perfect days with sun but a beautiful spring breeze. I embraced the life out of it!

I'm going to go straight to the jeans, because I have been utterly loving them. We all know rips are hugely in this season, so I invested in this black pair from Topshop. I know £45 may be pricey for some but as I always say, I never compromise with my jeans. They are from the Petite range, of course, and I'm so in love, they're so perfect- I've worn them out in the evening but also dressed down with a casual blouse or t-shirt like today.

The jeans and shoes are so 'statement' that I felt it fitting pairing them with a very relaxed classic white sleeveless blouse- ideal for the entirety of spring and summer-, with a bit of colour and print (I'm very into 'boho' and paisley styles) in the long, sleeveless waistcoat. All very juxtaposing pieces that I feel work well together especially when tied in with all my gold go-to accessories. This clear bag has been my everyday bag for about the past 3 months, it's so chic and elegant but also so simplistic and goes with absolutely everything- a classic Zara piece.

My tie-up black 'suedette' heeled sandals are brand spanking new from Asos. As soon as I saw them I had that moment of picturing an array of possible outfit choices featuring these babies running through my mind, they we're pretty much a no brainer. Again suitable for day or night, the upper is made of a suede like fabric and the laces are more like threads of elastic which I don't know if I'm too crazy about. They look insanely sassy, which I'm obviously all about.  In terms of comfort they are a dream because the heel height is nothing precarious but I did find they rubbed slightly at the front however that could well be because it was my first time wearing them. I will keep you posted on the comfort of these because like the jeans, they are £45 and you'd want to be completely happy with them before you go ahead and place the order.

MAY LOVE LIST & STYLE SNAPS

I appreciate that it has been almost two whole months since I have even posted, but with good reason. Back in march, I managed to catch every bug/virus going around- I have never been so sick in my life, so I obviously was bed bound and confined to my pyjamas and  the past month of April I've literally spent recovering. I don't even know how it got so bad, it was just one bug after another and then my anxiety came back in a big way because I was always so nauseous and afraid of being sick, so until recently I hadn't eaten properly for 2 months either. But I'm back and so ready for summer.

We actually managed to enjoy a few beautiful days of sunshine in April, so of course that was reflected in my style. I took a few quick snaps before going to work of a very summer inspired outfit, just to complete this little post, but I didn't have enough time to photograph a full blown OOTD. Just a moment of appreciation for this amazing jumpsuit. Moments over. Iv'e also got a few nice little posts in the pipeline to look forward to. Links to items below!
